We have five Activity Centres across the region, where you can hire watersports equipment, launch your own craft or learn something new with our friendly and qualified instructors:

Extend your stay and camp at Roadford Campsite, Siblyback Campsite, Stithians Campsite, Tamar Campsite or Wimbleball Campsite.


Our lakes provide the perfect setting for a great day out in Cornwall, Devon and on Exmoor. Venture along our trails, encountering nature face to face. Refuel at our onsite cafés with delicious snacks, cakes and hot drinks. Enjoy a wide range of fun things to do – try an activity on or off the water for the very first time, shoot an arrow or swing through the trees, discover paddleboarding or explore our lakes by canoe. Extend your stay and enjoy a night under canvas, create a family holiday packed with new experiences creating lifelong memories.

Can I walk / cycle around the lake?

Our lakes have a variety of walking and cycling routes suitable for all ages and abilities. Please visit the site specific pages on this website for detailed maps.

Are your lakes wheelchair accessible?

At South West Lakes Trust we aim to provide social inclusion and accessibility for all. Our five sites benefit from maintained and accessible paths suitable for both pushchairs and wheelchairs. Find out more here.

How much is car parking?

£2.50 for 2 hours or £5 all day. If you're a regular visitor why not become a Friend of South West Lakes Trust and receive a free parking pass for all of our car parks. Find out more here

Are your lakes dog friendly?

Yes, dogs are welcome at the lakes. We just ask that they are kept on a lead and out of the water. Enclosed dog exercise areas are available at Roadford, Siblyback and Wimbleball where you can let your four-legged friends off of the lead for a good run. 

Can I bring my own boat?

Yes, self-launch is available at all five activity centres. Find more information here.

Can I swim in the lake?

For the safety of our visitors, swimming is not permitted in any of the lakes, unless it's part of a registered event.

Can I purchase a gift voucher?

Yes, you can purchase a gift voucher on this website or by calling 01566 771930.

What days are you open?

The lakes are open all year for walking, cycling and exploring! Opening times for our Activity Centres can be found on the site-specific pages on this website.

Can I go fishing?

Yes, Roadford, Siblyback, Stithians and Wimbleball are popular trout fisheries and Tamar Lakes is an award-winning coarse fishery. To find out more visit our fishing websites:

Do you sell equipment?

Yes, at the end of the season we sell off some of our kit. If you are interested in purchasing any of our equipment please contact your closest Activity Centre.

How do we book? 

Bookings can be made through our website or by calling your chosen centre.

Can we bring groups?

Yes, groups are welcome at the lakes. For more information click here. 

Can we become a watersports member?

Can I have a bbq or campfire  

BBQs are permitted as long as they are raised off of the ground. Unfortunately we do not allow campfires.
