Wild camping

  • Wild camping is not permitted at any of our lakes.
  • Camping in car parks or on roadside verges is not allowed at any time.

Instead choose from one of our campsites across the region. From quiet sites to glamping, there is something for everyone.

Legally camping in a campervan or motorhome

  • The only legal places to park overnight are on our formal campsites. No one has a right to simply ‘pitch up’ for a night or two, as all land in England is owned by someone. In our case, the land is owned by South West Water Ltd. and managed by South West Lakes.
  • There are lots of great campsites across the South West, ranging from basic and wild-feeling sites, through to glamping sites and places with great facilities. Many, including our own, welcome campervans and motorhomes.

Locations listed on websites or apps promoting informal parking

  • There are a number of websites and apps that identify and promote ‘informal’ campsites. If you find one of our sites or car parks listed on one of these websites or apps, then unfortunately the information is incorrect and you will be asked to leave by one of our wardens. Please contact us if you are unsure.
