Our established lakes are located in outstandingly beautiful and secluded rural areas across the South West. The very remote and rural nature of our estate, the thing that makes them so special, also means that modern mobile communications don’t always cover the areas we would like them to. This makes getting an immediate response to ongoing incidents very challenging. The first Mainline pairs competition of the year saw the ever consistent Nigel Woods and Richard Ford win the competition again. Each pair can submit three fish to add together to give them their final weight. This led to a very close fought competition with anybody being in with a chance of the £2,000 first prize. It didn’t take long for the first fish of the competition when Aaron Jones and his partner Carl Roberts landed a cracking common from peg 1 in the first afternoon. But quickly after that Nigel and Rich put themselves in the lead with three fish going into the first night. It was a busy first night with plenty of fish getting caught and there were new leaders in the morning. Matt and Chris in peg 33 had plenty of fish with their total weight of the three biggest being 53lb 5oz. Nigel and Rich continued to catch but their overall weight of the three biggest was 52lb 5oz. Dan and Kris in peg 22 had a couple fish to put them in third and Stephan and Jordan in peg 14 managed a beauty of a common at 25lb 9oz. The second day saw Scott and Mark in peg 34 land a flurry of fish to climb into third place with 44lb 10oz, Aaron and Carl landed another fish to put them into fifth with 27lb 11oz. Later in the afternoon Nigel and Rich managed to land a bigger fish at 18lb 8oz common putting them into the lead by 2lb 10oz. Going into the final night it was all to play for. As dawn broke on the final morning the anglers made their final push to try and land that one or two fish that could win the competition. With fish being landed but being smaller than a pair previous three recorded fish, every ounce was being checked as the fish were weighed. The final horn sounded and the was the end of the competition. There was no change in the final result and Nigel and Rich held on to first place by 2lb 10oz, Matt and Chris in peg 33 did an amazing job finishing in second, Scott and Mark managed to cling on to third.
