Day tickets are bookable through Catch. Download the Catch app from App Store or Google Play. Facilities include onsite cafes, parking, toilets, showers, wheelchair access platforms, on-site permit rooms and easy access paths and swims. SW Lakes Fishing Trust is managed by South West Lakes Trust. Send in your catch report Reporting an Incident: South West Lakes Trust manages a portfolio of nearly 50 lakes and other natural resources so it is not always possible for our wardens to be on the scene when issues occur. The very remote and rural nature of our estate, the thing that makes them so special, also means that modern mobile communications don’t always cover the areas we would like them to. This makes getting an immediate response to ongoing incidents very challenging. Please use this form to report any incidents of poaching, illegal fishing or any other form of antisocial behaviour to the management team so that we are able to take appropriate action. Matthew Pepperell destroyed the record books as he swept aside the opposition at the Upper Tamar Mainline Baits carp open singles from 12-14 November 2021. Matthew claimed the £1000 top prize with an impressive display of angling from the far end of the lake. (Top image: Winner Matthew Pepperell with a 20lb+ fish) Choosing peg 20 proved to be a great pick as he caught carp steadily throughout the competition to finish with 19 fish for 240lbs in weight! He landed three fish over 20lbs with the best being a 22lb 14oz mirror. He set new records both for total amount of carp caught in any one match and total weight. Above: Winner Matthew Pepperell (left) with John Keenbone from Mainline Baits Apart from peg 20 the fishing was as predicted with the odd fish being caught here and there across the 83 acre venue. This meant the other 31 anglers all had a chance of claiming the second place £500 or third place £250 right up until the finish of the 45 hour match. Barry Lee who was second for most of the match couldn’t quite hold on with Richard Sanders landing two 20lb+ mirrors on Sunday morning to claim second place and £500! Barry was third with his two fish of 20lb 6oz and 19lb 2oz from peg 19 at the far end on the Devon Bank. He won £250 for his efforts. Third place was won by Ben Cooper, a competition regular at Tamar. His two fish registered 35lb 8oz which was enough to hold off the remaining anglers to win £250. Fishing from peg 35 by the dam wall Ben caught a lovely 22lb 5oz common and a 13lb 3oz common to back it up. Largest fish winning Mainline PVA and Spod mix and a cap (not finishing in the top three) was Ben Cooper with a 22lb 5oz mirror. Smallest carp with a 5lb 4oz mirror also winning Mainline PVA and Spod mix and a cap was Darren Walter. There was also 5kg of Mainline freezer boilies for each section winner. The lake was divided into 4 sections and the winners were Andrew Woon, Matthew Bridgen, Scott Bowden and Richard Ben Cooper. In total there were 31 carp caught from nine swims with seven over 20lbs in size. Congratulations to all the winners and a massive thank you to sponsors Mainline Baits. Also a huge thank you to Bob, Jamie, Rich and Ian for marshalling over the weekend and for warden Gary for all he did. The full results are below.
