We recently held two Family Activity Days at Burrator Reservoir and Longham Lakes: a first for Longham, and the first for Burrator since February 2020!

Lots of families attended our 'Wonderful Water and Wildlife' themed sessions, as part of our ‘I Love Water’ project funded by National Lottery Heritage Fund and South West Water. Families enjoyed cooking fruit bread over the fire, making wooden fish, constructing water filters, learning about our amazing water-loving wildlife, and exploring our new historic reservoir trail at Burrator.

At Longham, the safe, outdoor fun included learning about the importance of biosecurity and safety while making model rafts and people even had the opportunity to test their knowledge with an invasive species themed trail along the lake edge.

Lucy Alford, Environment and Engagement Ranger at South West Lakes, said:

"It was great to see families out enjoying nature, the sunshine and the lakes. Everyone was in really good spirits, and excited to get stuck in with all of the activities. We hope to run lots more of these events in the future, so keep your eyes peeled on our what's on pages!

Thank you to all our wonderful volunteers for all their hard work and flexibility helping to run the events.
