With plenty of lakes to explore, there are endless opportunities to capture the brilliance of the outdoors and share your experiences with us.

The competition will run from Friday 24th May until Saturday 31st August so there is plenty of time to submit your entries. See below for everything you might need to know.

Categories

Wonderful Wildlife – Help us to highlight the beauty and diversity of wildlife.

Stunning Scenery – Capture the breath-taking landscapes and natural environments at our lakes.

Awesome Adventures – Share your thrilling moments of adventure and exploration at our activity centres and lakes.

Young Explorers (under 18s) - Capture your adventures whilst exploring our lakes, share your discoveries and stories. 

It’s Your Outdoors (video entries) – This one’s a little bit different, show us what the lakes mean to you through the magic of video!

How to Enter

Submissions should be sent via email to [email protected] (please include your name, location of photos/videos and category you wish to enter). For video entries too large for email, please use Dropbox/WeTransfer or similar. If you have any questions, please contact us via email where we will be happy to help. Closing date for submissions: 31st August 2024.

Prizes

1st Prize overall winner: £250 cash 

1st Prize for each category: £100 cash AND winners of the children's category can choose an alternative prize of an 'activity experience - an hour paddle party for up to 8 participants'. 

Runner-up prizes are also up for grabs, as well as a special prize for the image or video with the most public votes.

Winning images will be part of an exhibition at Roadford Lake and there is also the opportunity for your images to be displayed in local publications as well as being featured in the 2025 friends of South West Lakes Trust calendar!

Terms and Conditions 

  • All entries must be taken at one of our lakes.
  • Images must be a minimum of 1MB and video entries must be no longer than 60 seconds.
  • Entries to the video category must not be taken using drone cameras or equipment; use of drones at South West Lakes Trust locations is not approved.
  • By entering this competition, you are giving permission for your content to be displayed and/or published in connection with South West Lakes Trust publicity and publications. Whenever imagery is used by South West Lakes Trust, credit will be given (unless requested otherwise). Failure to credit due to error or oversight will not be considered as a breach of this condition.
  • Employees and family members of employees of South West Lakes Trust are ineligible to participate in this competition.
  • Identifiable people in images or videos must have given permission. South West Lakes Trust will assume that permission has been granted for all entries to the competition.
  • The competition is open to all members of the public. However persons below the age of 16 entering the competition must ensure parental permission is granted; South West Lakes Trust will assume that by entering the competition, all entries from persons aged below 16 years of age will have gained appropriate permissions from parent/guardian.
