8 October 2021

We’ve got an action-packed programme of fun family activities on offer this October half-term.

Join us and the Caradon Observatory team for a nocturnal themed family activity evening at Siblyback Lake, near Liskeard, on Friday 22 October.

The evening will start with a twilight walk, learning about the nocturnal animals that roam the lake and how they use its water, then observing the constellations visible from the lake when it gets dark with the Caradon Observatory team. It will finish with an art activity blending water and stars.

The event starts at 6.30pm and finishes at 9pm. Advanced booking is advised, as spaces are limited. Tickets are £3 per person.

On Wednesday 27 October, at Roadford Lake near Okehampton, we’re hosting a creepy crawly themed family activity adventure.

Look for bugs and invertebrates beneath the lake’s surface with the help of the charity’s environment and engagement rangers, learning how and why these creatures use the water and why Roadford Lake is just as important to us. Have fun with creepy crafts to finish the session.

There will be two sessions: 10am-12.30pm and 1pm-3.30pm. Advanced booking is advised, as spaces are limited. Tickets are £3 per child and £2 per adult.

There is also a packed programme of activities on offer at Wimbleball Lake on Exmoor from 23 to 31 October.

‘Have a go’ sessions at Wimbleball Activity Centre are a great way to try an activity for the first time with friends or family. The one to two-hour sessions are led by qualified instructors and are an ideal opportunity to gain basic skills and have fun.

Activities include archery, paddleboarding, sailing, windsurfing, high ropes and kayaking.

Two-hour family canoe adventures are led by experienced instructors and give participants the opportunity to learn the basic skills of canoeing, enjoy games and take in the incredible scenery. The sessions are suitable for ages 4+ and for all abilities.

You can also hire a variety of watersports equipment, launch your own craft and learn something new by taking part in an instructor-led session or simply explore the miles of footpaths and cycle ways, enjoy the play area or even extend your stay and camp.
