About us News Preserving history at Fernworthy Reservoir 25 August 2021 Last week, we teamed up with Chagford Conservation Group and Dartmoor National Park Ranger Pete, to carry out some important work at Fernworthy Reservoir. Similar to recent work at Burrator Reservoir, the work was part of our archaeological conservation management plan. The team cleared the areas around the iconic Bronze Age hut circles which were part of the Metherel settlement, and which had been engulfed by overgrown bracken and gorse. The group helped to clear around the edges of the hut, exposing these fantastic artefacts. We hope that visitors to the reservoir can now enjoy and learn more about their fascinating history. We are grateful to Chagford Conservation Group and Dartmoor National Park for their help in achieving this - together we proved that many hands do make light work, and community involvement can work wonders in environmental and heritage preservation.
