Friday 12 August, 10.30am to 4pm, Upper Tamar Lake

National Fishing Month (1-31 August) is all about celebrating the social, wellbeing and environmental benefits of angling.

Angling offers you a chance to get outside, experience nature at its best, get the whole body moving, take a breath and allow your mind the time it needs to reset.

If you're a complete novice, find out why coarse fishing has so many people hooked at this free, family-friendly event, with plenty on offer for the experienced angler as well!

There will be demonstrations including how to best set up rods to prevent snags and tangles, correct unhooking techniques and equipment and wound care.

Younger visitors will enjoy learning more about different fish species with our interactive 'hook a fish' game.

And you can learn more about invasive non-native species and what we can all do to prevent their spread.

There is also fishing tuition available from Gary and Bob with 9 spots available – 3 at 10am, 3 at 12pm, 3 at 2pm. £15 pounds per person. Parent or guardian must be present.

Participants will need to sign a disclaimer to accept responsibility that they will listen and do as they are instructed by our trained fishing coaches, take appropriate precautions to be out in the weather such as sun protection and staying hydrated and are fit and well to participate.

Tuition booking can be done by booking online https://www.swlakestrust.org.uk/upper-tamar or calling Head Office on 01566 771930.

Find us just up from the Activity Centre on Friday 12 August from 10.30am to 4pm.
