Argal is home to carp to 40lbs, pike to 25lbs, bream to 15lb, perch to 3lb and quality roach and rudd. Carp have gone to nearly 43lbs in the past. The most sought after carp is ‘The Secret’ which is usually caught around 40lbs in weight. There is a large head of big bream with an average size well over 5lbs. Pleasure anglers’ nets of 75-150lb in a day are not uncommon. The pike fishing is winter only from 1 October to 29 February. Re-stocking - The water has been re-stocked in recent years with carp to over 30lbs. The lake also has a café, public lavatories including provision for disabled visitors, a children's play area and picnic tables.
