We have five Activity Centres across the region, where you can hire watersports equipment, launch your own craft or learn something new with our friendly and qualified instructors:

Extend your stay and camp at Roadford Campsite, Siblyback Campsite, Stithians Campsite, Tamar Campsite or Wimbleball Campsite.


Our lakes provide the perfect setting for a great day out in Cornwall, Devon and on Exmoor. Venture along our trails, encountering nature face to face. Refuel at our onsite cafés with delicious snacks, cakes and hot drinks. Enjoy a wide range of fun things to do – try an activity on or off the water for the very first time, shoot an arrow or swing through the trees, discover paddleboarding or explore our lakes by canoe. Extend your stay and enjoy a night under canvas, create a family holiday packed with new experiences creating lifelong memories.

Experience a family camping holiday like no other at Wimbleball Lake, nestled in the hills of Exmoor National Park. Create the ultimate camping break packed with adventure, creating lasting memories for the whole family. Wimbleball Lake offers a great ‘get away’ experience for families wanting to holiday in the South West.

Discover all the great things to do at the lake by foot, bike or boat. There’s plenty of open space to let your children play freely. Bring your bikes - our off-road trails are perfect for little members of the family and are suitable for pushchairs. Cycle, walk, run or skip up to the dam, everyone loves discovering this mega-structure and what’s not to love? Let your children discover all the fun things to do outdoors, walk through woodlands, build dens, find bugs, climb a tree, skim stones, toast marshmallows and enjoy stargazing.

Pay a visit to the Dark Sky Discovery Hub, near the Activity Centre, after the sun goes down. Gaze upwards and watch the planets, spot constellations or see shooting stars. It's also a great facility for astrophotography and to watch and listen for nocturnal wildlife.

The Campsite

Sleep in comfort and ditch the tent for a cosy night’s stay in one of our three belle tents, two wooden glamping pods or cabin.

Wimbleball Lake is an AA graded, 3 star family friendly campsite that has also been awarded the Green Tourism gold award. The campsite has spacious pitches, onsite showers and toilets, washing up area, baby changing room, waste disposal, recycling facilities, on-site watersports and a cafe.

There's a choice of hard standings, electric and non-electric pitches for tents, motorhomes and caravans. You can hire a fire pit, purchase wood and charcoal made onsite, rent a telescope and discover why Exmoor National Park is a designated Dark Skies reserve.

Camp in one of our luxury furnished belle tents

Enjoy a camping holiday with all of the home comforts. Our two furnished belle tents include a double bed, two single foldaway camp beds (you'll just need to pack the kids' sleeping bags for these), chest of drawers and two bedside tables. There's two foldaway camp chairs, a kettle, two mugs, and an outdoor picnic table.

Need to cook? You can select the gas stove option when booking. You will have a kitchen unit, cooking utensils, cutlery and plates for up to four people.

Need to charge your phones? Two solar powered USB ports are available, as our belle tents benefit from solar panels, so you can take as many pictures and videos to remember a holiday like no other at Wimbleball. Bring your own airbeds; there's plenty of space to sleep 5-6 comfortably.

Weather permitting, awnings are also available.

The belle tents have their own area on the campsite with a lovely view of the field and trees in front of the tents where children can plan. It's a one-minute walk to the water's edge or to join the dam path.

We also have one unfurnished belle tent with a double bed and two camp beds for convenience camping. No bedding or electricity is supplied. 

Camping Pods

Our pods sleep four people comfortably. The ‘Otter’ has four full-size bunk beds and the ‘Kingfisher’ has a double futon with two foldable camp beds. The pods contain a table, chair, picnic bench and lighting. There are three plug sockets and two USB charging ports powered by solar panels. 

Please note that bedding, cooking utensils, cutlery, plates and mugs are not provided for the pods.

Otter - Bunk beds, sleeps 4

Kingfisher - Double futon and 2 camp beds, sleeps 4

Two night minimum stay in low and mid season. In high season you can select set stays.

Fawn Cabin

Fawn Cabin is perfect all year round to keep you cosy, warm and dry.

Inside you'll find a double bed and 2 single beds plus bedding. There is also a built in cooking stove and running water, kettle, saucepan, 4 glasses, cutlery and crockery for 4 and 2 mugs. Take your meals outside to watch the sunset from your very own picnic table on decking. Two weeks before you arrive you will receive a full list of everything in the cabin. 

Electric: There are 4 USB sockets, built in electric cooking stove and built in ceiling lights.

Price includes up to 4 people and 1 car. Sorry no dogs inside the cabin.

High Season: 4 night minimum stay from Monday - Friday & 3 night minimum stay from Friday - Monday. When booking select Monday to book the week or Friday to book the weekend.

Low and Mid Season: 2 night minimum stay (any day of week).

The Local Area

Wimbleball is the perfect base to explore Exmoor, with Dunkery Beacon (the highest point on Exmoor), iconic clapper bridge Tarr Steps and the famous Doone Valley within easy reach. There are plenty of great walks in the valley below the dam and you can walk to Haddon Hill from Wimbleball. Keep an eye out for the resident wildlife! 

Take a day trip out and stock up on food and drink. Just a short drive or bike ride from Wimbleball Lake, Brompton Regis Village Shop stocks a wide range of food and drink, every day essentials and local produce. Click here for more information. 

The closest town to Wimbleball is Dulverton but it's also worth venturing slightly further to explore the popular towns and villages of Tiverton, Porlock, Minehead, Watchet, Wiveliscombe, Taunton and Wellington. Within an hour's drive you'll also find Lynton, Lynmouth and the Valley of the Rocks.

Wimbleball Lake can be found by following the brown signs off the A396 from Tiverton; from Dunster take the A396 to Dulverton to pick up the signs or from Taunton take the A39 towards Wheddon Cross and then carry on the B3190 towards Bampton, the lake is signposted from this road.
