Reporting an Incident:

South West Lakes Trust manages a portfolio of nearly 50 lakes and other natural resources so it is not always possible for our wardens to be on the scene when issues occur. The very remote and rural nature of our estate, the thing that makes them so special, also means that modern mobile communications don’t always cover the areas we would like them to. This makes getting an immediate response to ongoing incidents very challenging.

Please use this form to report any incidents of poaching, illegal fishing or any other form of antisocial behaviour to the management team so that we are able to take appropriate action.

As part of our ongoing work to improve our coarse fisheries we have stocked more large carp into Upper Tamar. This is the fourth year in a row where we have introduced fish to further strengthen the lakes reputation for being one of the best in the South West.

We have now stocked 83 carp ranging from 18lbs to 36lbs in weight. We will be stocking another 17 in 2021 fish to reach the 100 fish total. We have now stocked:

  • 3 fish over 30lbs
  • 3 fish over 25lbs
  • 65 over 20lbs
  • 10 fish over 19lbs
  • 2 fish over 18lbs
  • 64 mirror carp and 19 commons

The fish which we have stocked have been growing extremely well. One common which was stocked at 23lbs and one at 26lbs are both now 32lbs within 2 years of being stocked!

These new fish were sourced from our local supplier Lana Springs Fish Farm in Devon. Owner Chris Mannifold has a great reputation for supplying premium carp of great quality.

Upper Tamar is a spectacular venue, set in peaceful rural countryside, spanning two counties with the Devon and Cornwall border running down the middle of the lake.

The fishery benefits from outstanding facilities with a tackle shop, café, showers, toilets and a camping field – perfect if the family also want to come along! There is an onsite self-service permit room so you can arrive at your leisure and start fishing! (If the permit room is closed due to Covid-19 please purchase a permit online). The venue also benefits from a level stoned path all the way around which makes access to swims for everyone really easy.

Our website provides a map of Upper Tamar fishery including swim names so you can familiarise yourself before even visiting. We also have a very active Facebook page, so please LIKE our page for regular catch reports, pictures and information about all of our coarse fisheries in the South West.
