College Reservoir

Hidden away at the top of a wooded valley and walking distance from the market town of Penryn, is one of our less well known lakes, College Reservoir. In 2012, with core funding from SITA Cornwall Trust and support from The Tanner Trust, Penryn Town Council, Mabe Parish Council and the Cornwall Council Community Grant Scheme, a 1km footpath was opened down one side of the lake, which allows visitors easy access to explore this beautiful site and provides a link from Penryn to Argal Reservoir and the village of Mabe.

College is managed as a nature reserve and is a great place to relax and take in the tranquil woodlands and picturesque views of the lake. The woodland and meadow habitats are home to a wide variety of wildlife, making it a great place to visit all year round. In winter, the lake is the perfect spot to find many species of ducks and wading birds, whilst in spring and summer breeding swans and great crested grebes steal the show.

Coarse Fishing

Argal lake is a very successful and popular coarse fishery with permits available from the self-service hut on site or from our fishing website.
