Sarah Hallett

I spent 10 years working in the retail and sales industry, across a range of outlets – New Look, McDonalds, Dorothy Perkins, Clinton Cards where I worked my way to assistant manager and completed my NVQ L2 in retail. After taking two years out to have my babies and moving from Saltash to Broadwoodwidger I decided I didn’t want to go back into the industry so started volunteering at Roadford with a dim view of maybe becoming a kayaking instructor (I used to kayak when I was a youth). Phil discovered what my background was and persuaded me to take the receptionist job with a promise of helping get instructor tickets. I spent 18 months learning how to sail, funded by Cornwall Marine Network, before qualifying as a dinghy instructor last June. Whilst learning to sail I gained tickets in the high ropes, indoor climbing, archery and safety boat, whilst taking on more jobs in the Roadford office, and helping train other staff in different admin areas.
