Butterfly Survey Training Day at Wimbleball

10:00 am

28th May 2019

Tuesday 28th May 2019, 10:00am – 3:00pm

Interested in wildlife? Enjoy being outside? Willing to spend some time looking for butterflies?

Come along and learn everything you need to know to help in the annual monitoring of Exmoor’s butterflies. Led by Butterfly Conservation, we will spend the first half of the day in the classroom at Wimbleball Activity Centre looking at identification and survey techniques, before heading out to practise our skills.

Please bring a packed lunch, drink, and waterproofs. Long trousers, and sturdy walking boots or similar are essential for the afternoon walk as we will be leaving the paths.

Following the workshop, there will be the opportunity to help monitor butterflies at Wimbleball and the chance to get involved with threatened fritillary butterfly surveys at various locations across Exmoor.

This free event has been organised by the Heritage Funded ‘All the Moor Butterflies‘ project.

Booking is essential. For more information or to book please contact either Megan Lowe from Butterfly Conservation – mlowe@butterfly-conservation.org / 07827 460767 or Tina, Senior Countryside Warden for Exmoor at South West Lakes Trust – tluxton@swlakestrust.org.uk
