On Sunday 26th May, over 30 people braved the weather to learn about foraging for wild foods at Siblyback Lake.

The event was jointly hosted by South West Lakes Trust and Jacky Pearce, the Wilderness Woman, who has an extensive knowledge base and passion for foraging:

“Being outdoors in nature restores my soul and I’d like to share some of that world.”

Countryside Warden for East Cornwall, Nige Tomkinson, said, “Despite the mizzle, everyone seemed to get a lot out of the event. Jacky passed on some great foraging tips and we even tried a few free tasty plants along the way.

“Humans are, by nature, hunter gathers and it can be a real buzz to return to this traditional activity.  By looking a lot closer at our natural world, we add to its value.  Foraging not only supplies us with things to eat, but also gives us the chance to slow down and get away from everything just being a hectic click away.”

The event is just one of several planned for Siblyback throughout 2019. For more information, call 01566 771930, or email [email protected]
