Kerdroya is now taking shape by Colliford Lake on Bodmin Moor in Cornwall.

The Golden Tree project was launched to celebrate the 60^th anniversary of the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 2019, and will be the largest classical labyrinth in the world. It is a permanent, living monument, designed to last 4,000 years.

This unique piece of land art, spanning 56 metres across, will be constructed out of traditional Cornish hedging, while simultaneously training the next generation of Cornish hedgers through a training programme supported by the Guild of Cornish Hedgers and funded by Cornwall Council and National Lottery Heritage Fund.

When complete, visitors will have a “fully immersive experience” as they follow a single path through artisan stonework which celebrates distinct hedging styles. At the centre of the labyrinth will lie a commissioned art installation by the Thrussells (father and son duo) with beautiful backdrop views of Colliford Lake.

Funded by Cornwall Council, Cornwall AONB, Arts Council England, National Lottery Heritage Fund, Cornwall Heritage Trust and FEAST, the project will also support thousands of species of insects and pollinators.
