An exciting opportunity has arisen to operate the café at Upper Tamar Lake, situated within a short distance from the north coast of Cornwall and Devon. South West Lakes is looking for an innovative catering business to operate the café, who shares the organisation’s passion for creating outstanding visitor experiences.

Upper Tamar Lake benefits from an outdoor activity and angling centre that offers kayak, canoe and paddleboard hire, a 24-pitch campsite plus glamping pod, as well as a tackle and bait shop for the nationally renowned coarse fishery. The circular route around Upper Tamar Lake is used by walkers and runners alike; outside the context of the pandemic, a Parkrun takes place every Saturday. Lower Tamar Lake is a short walk/drive away, and is a designated nature reserve as well as a popular coarse fishery.

Currently named ‘The Froghopper Café’ as a nod to the site’s wildlife, the café is located at the main entrance to the site, perfectly situated adjacent to the car park and children’s play area and a short walk from the campsite, activity centre and start of the footpaths. There are public toilets close to the café, maintained by South West Lakes and available to café customers. The main café consists of an inside seating area for C. 40 covers. Outside, there is a terrace area boasting scenic views of the lake.

Environment and engagement are key to South West Lakes, with staff and volunteers ensuring that conservation and leisure work in harmony together. The café presents a fantastic opportunity for a like-minded business to engage with visitors to the lake and actively work with the charity to promote its work for the benefit of all.

South West Lakes invites interested parties to register an interest in this fantastic opportunity. Please send an email with your name and contact details to [email protected]
