On Sunday 17 February, South West Lakes Trust and Cornwall Bird Watching Preservation Society hosted a fantastic winter bird walk at College Lake.

Led by expert Dan Chaney and Senior Countryside Warden Beth Cross, a group of 18 people followed a slightly different route around the reservoir; while these walks often wind around Argal and College lakes, the route circled around the whole of College Lake, passing through a range of different habitats.

The group identified 35 different bird species; the highlights were the ducks, including Wigeon, Pochard, Teal, Tufted Duck, Mallard and Goldeneye.

Beth Cross, Senior Countryside Warden said, ‘Thank you to everyone to came along, and thanks to Dan for his expert knowledge.’ If you are interested in attending a similar event, South West Lakes are hosting a bird walk at Stithians Lake on 17 March.
