On Wednesday 22 August, South West Lakes Trust and Cornwall Bat Group hosted another great bat walk at Argal Lake.

32 people came along to enjoy a delicious meal at Wild Vibes Café, followed by a talk on the fascinating species from Sam Smith of Cornwall Bat Group. The group then set off on a walk around the lake, with the opportunity to look for bats in a variety of different habitats including meadows, woodland and over open water.

Beth Cross, Senior Countryside Warden (West Cornwall) for South West Lakes Trust, said, ‘We had great views (and sounds) of a range of species including Pipistrelle, Soprano Pipistrelle, Nathusius Pipstrelle, Noctule and Daubenton’s. Thanks to Wild Vibes and Sam from Cornwall Bat Group.’

The event was a fantastic opportunity for individuals and families to get involved in the Bat Group, and precedes another family bat evening at Siblyback Lake on Friday 14 September, at 7.30pm.
