We want to enable children and their families to play and explore at Roadford Lake; linking play to the natural environment is important to us and is of great benefit to everyone’s health and well being. We now have plans for an exciting new play space at Roadford Lake, which you can find out about below.

We're delighted to announce that the new play area at Roadford Lake is now open, thanks to generous funding from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, South West Water and South West Lakes and our supporters. Thank you to all of you for your donations and letters of support.

Now more than ever, children and their families need great outdoor spaces to play, be free and to let their imagination run wild. We want to help people connect with the natural environment through play.

How you can help

  • Tell your friends and family about our new play area and encourage them to visit
  • Donate to our project. Every donation is really appreciated no matter how big or small - to donate click here

Our plans

The images below show our vision for Roadford Play and Explore. The funding from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, South West Water and South West Lakes and our supporters has enabled us to complete work on Areas 1 and 3, with funding for Area 2 to be sourced at a later date.

The inclusive play area features a timber play tower, rope bridge, swings and slides, incorporating the orchard planted in 2015 as an area for shade and picnics. There is also an area for den building. Grass areas have been sown with a native wildflower and grass mix and native trees will also be planted to increase the biodiversity of the play space.

We now have detailed plans and have embarked upon our tendering process and fundraising journey. The images below show our vision for Roadford Play Area, and we'd really appreciate your letter of support for the project to help us secure external funding.
