Unearthing the past at Burrator Quarries

Geological heritage conservation work is underway at Burrator Quarries Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) thanks to the joint South West Water and South West Lakes Trust SSSI project. This conservation work will improve the visibility of important contacts between the Dartmoor granite and Devonian country rocks by removing overgrown gorse and Ivy. This will enable the public to once again be able to view, and enjoy this nationally important geological site. A public interpretation board is located next to the quarry which explains its interest.

During the time this vegetation is being removed, the car park will be closed in order to ensure public safety.
