Great Turn Out at Argal Family Wildlife Day

Despite the blustery forecast there was still a great turn out at South West Lakes Trust’s Family Wildlife Day at Argal Lake on Saturday (20 August).

All those who attended got stuck in with making bird feeders, bug hunting, nature crafts and quiz trails. Although it was too windy for the fishing taster session, a local angler caught a Carp just below where the event was being held and everyone enjoyed having a look at it.

Beth Heasman, Countryside Warden for South West Lakes Trust, said ‘Thanks to everyone who came along to our event and for all the donations. Money raised from these events at Argal are going towards a fund for making improvements to the play area at the lake.’

Our next conservation event will be taking at Roadford Lake on Sunday 4 September. Join us from 10.00am – 2.00pm and explore our woods to find the perfect spot to make your own den from nature. Meet us in the Lakeside Visitor Centre where you’ll find our countryside wardens who can offer den building tips!

The event costs only £3.00 per child and adults go free! For more information or to book a place please call 01566 784859.
