Birthday Celebrations at Burrator

On Sunday 19 July South West Lakes Trust hosted a celebration event to recognise the Discovery Centre’s first birthday. Over 150 people joined in the afternoon of activities at Burrator Reservoir, including first time visitors and families from South West Lakes Trust’s monthly ‘Wildlife Watch’ sessions.

Families enjoyed toasting marshmallows over the fire, whistle making, face painting, bug hunting and making felt butterflies. The tea and cake stand, as well as the charcoal making talks, were very popular. There was also the opportunity to explore the recently restored Wembley Walk and complete the new art trail quiz.

A recent Tweet said, “The pretty works of art, like the willow dragonflies and willow tunnel, are delicate and unobtrusive, adding interests to an already beautiful walk beside the reservoir.”

The opening times of the Burrator Discovery Centre can be found on the SWLT website https://www.swlakestrust.org.uk/lakes-and-facilities/the-lakes/burrator.
