Royal visit at Stithians Lake - Fri 16 Jul 2010
Chairman, Cairns Boston thanked the visit of Prince Edward and thanked the guests of their continuous support:
‘Five years ago we built our Adventure and Training Centre at Stithians with new facilities for the community and visitors to learn to sail, fish, windsurf, canoe, row and to appreciate and understand the countryside. How marvellous that we have just completed a major extension to meet the demand for use of the facilities. Our success has, in large part, been due to partnership working and the generosity of funders, corporate, charitable, governmental and individuals. May I take the opportunity today to pay tribute to everyone who has helped, by financial, in-kind or practical help to make this wonderful project a reality.'
Chairman, Cairns Boston, reminded guests that in the first ten years of South West Lakes Trust there have been over 20m visits to the Lakes in Devon, Cornwall and West Somerset.
Mr. Boston said ‘We are, for the public benefit, protecting and conserving these important natural areas and we are also providing recreation and amenities for everyone, regardless of their age, ability or social circumstances.'
