250 mile bike ride covering all South West Lakes Watersports Centres - Mon 5 Jul 2010 to Thu 8 Jul 2010

 

3 students from the Wiltshire College National Diploma in Public Services (Uniformed) Course are planning a bike ride from the Chippenham Campus to Stithians Lake in Cornwall. The route will take in all of the Southwest Lakes Trust Water Sports Centers at Wimbleball, Tamar, Roadford, Siblyback and Stithians. A distance of 250 Miles in 3 days, a 4th day is in the schedule incase of breakdown or delays so that the distance can be completed. The Southwest Lakes have assisted in this to help promote the Cycle Ways the have created on their sites. The terrain for this trip will be extremely challenging climbing some very long steep hills and covering most of the moors in Somerset, Devon and Cornwall.

Day 1 will be from Chippenham to Wimbleball Lake on Exmoor a distance of 91 miles and climbing the eastern edge of Exmoor.

Day 2 will be from Wimbleball to Tamar and then onto Roadford totaling 75 miles across Exmoor and down through Devon along the Cornwall Devon Border.

Day 3 will take the team from Roadford to Siblyback Lake on Common Moor and then onto Stithians Lake covering a distance of 75 miles skirting the southern edge of Bodmin and visiting Lostwithiel, St Austell and Truro. 

 

The riders are,

Tom Davies (Organizer) age 17  From Corsham

Dave Tanner age 17  from Calne

Pricilla Hughes age 17 from Bristol

 

The group are aiming to raise over £1000 from the ride for their chosen charities and are looking for sponsorship from the public and companies to raise as much as possible they have Just Giving online donation pages for each of the charities so people can choose which charity they would like to support.
