Liaison meeting - Thu 19 Nov 2009

Cairns Boston, South West Lakes Trust's Chairman, greeted the stakeholders and presented his personal views about the importance of working together for the future benefit of the Trust.
Following the Chairman's introduction, Simon Timms, Head of Countryside and Culture from Devon County Council, gave a fascinating account of Wolf Valley and the archaeological discoveries that were revealed by the development of reservoir.
In the afternoon presentations were held by Evelyn Stacey, Director, James Platts, Head of Resource Planning, Andy Parsons, Head of Operation, Lisa Tame, Conservation Officer, Angie Martelli and Chris Hall, Area Managers, about achievements, current projects and future plans. The interesting presentations were followed by a lively open discussion lead by some of the Trustees: Lady Mary Holborow, Cairns Boston, Keith Bungay, Jacqui Edwards, Monica Read, Peter Bartlett and Peter Briens. Many interesting ideas and suggestions put forward by the audience made the meeting a very worthwhile event.
Mr Boston closed the evening with an encouraging speech emphasising the importance of partnership.
The stakeholders, which included Active Devon, British Cycling Federation, British Horse Society, Canoe England, Commodore Tamar Sailing Club, Cornwall Bird Watching & Preservation Society, Cornwall County Council, Cornwall Council-Landscape and Urban Design, Cornwall Sports Partnership, Dartmoor National Park, Devon County Council, Devon Wildlife Trust, Discover Wistlandpound Trust, East Cornwall Local Action Group, Environment Agency, Exeter University Rowing Board, Exmoor National Park, Exmoor Society, Forestry Commission, Kennick Fly Fishers Association, One Cornwall Natural Environment Office, Ramblers Association, Royal Yachting Association, Rural England, Sport England, South West Rivers Association, South West Tourism, South West Water, Volunteer Centre Launceston, West Somerset District Council, Natural England, Wimbleball Rowing Club, Wimbleball Sailing Club and West Country Rivers Trust were thanked for their continuing interest and support for South West Lakes Trust.
