There are many miles of paths following the shorelines of lakes, meandering through woodland and onto open fields.
There is a brand new family friendly Green grade cycle trail, and a slightly more adventurous Blue grade trail which winds its way through the forest. Both trails are a fantastic route to take to view the beautiful surroundings in which the lake is set.
The forest cycle track provides a safe, off-road family route taking in views of the lake and wildlife. Visit the cob shelter or birdhide on the Coombepark Walk. There are viewing points along the walks with benches to rest your legs and enjoy a picnic. You will find interpretation boards along the walks with information on flora and fauna.
The cycle trails have been funded through the 1SW project of the Rural Development Programme for England which is looking at developing the entire South West as a mountain biking destination through the creation of cycling hubs. These hubs will host a variety of trails of different grading to enable cyclists to build up to a more advance level in a safe environment, the best example of this can be seen at Haldon Hill, nr Exeter.
Stout footwear is recommended as parts of some routes may become muddy at the wettest times of year. At times, due to weather conditions or maintenance, it is necessary to temporarily close sections of these paths. Information on any closures can be found below.
Below you will find a selection of walks and cycle trails. You can download a leaflet with a map of the walks by clicking on the brochure to the right.
